Ling Landslip Remediation is a project being implemented in the lower reaches of the Falls Creek catchment. Landslips on the property are affecting access, grazing, infrastructure and of course water quality. A large sediment slug has formed where the creek enters Lake Baroon. This affects aquatic habitat both within the creek itself but also in the storage – catfish use this part of the dam to form ‘nests’ and lay eggs. Inflows of sediment smother the nests and likely kill the unhatched eggs.

The project has brought together multiple partners – Burnett Mary Regional Group, Sunshine Coast Council and of course Seqwater. But most pleasing has been the addition of Nambour TAFE who have provided their support by getting in, getting dirty and planting the 1,000 trees that will ultimately assist in the stabilisation of the site.
