After winning the Australian Government Excellence in Sustainable Farm Practices Award category at the Queensland State Landcare Awards in 2017 LBCCG attended the 2018 National Landcare Awards with high hopes but also recognising that the competition from the other Australian state finalists was incredibly strong.
The subsequent announcement probably caught every one by surprise…perhaps not Peter, but certainly the rest of us! The highlight of winning of course is the recognition for our amazingly supportive and cohesive Management Committee and our supporters and funders, all of whom we cannot list here but special mention must be made of Seqwater and Sunshine Coast Council. LBCCG staff love their jobs and it shows in the achievements we make every day; to have this kind of recognition makes us all strive to even make more of a difference! Last but certainly not least we thank every single one of the landholders, large and small, that trust us to partner with them and implement projects on their properties. We would not achieve anything if not for these people.
Peter Stevens was delighted to accept the award on behalf of Lake Baroon Catchment Care Group. “It’s great to receive recognition for all the years of work we put into this project. There are a lot of people that are going to be very proud of this amazing outcome.”
