LBCCG in partnership with CSIRO and Sunshine Coast Council have commenced the first stage of testing a biological control agent for the weed Mistflower (Ageratina riparia). A white smut fungus (Entyloma ageratinae) has shown promising results in reducing the prevalence of Mistflower in both Hawaii and New Zealand and CSIRO believes with appropriate testing in Australian conditions could provide an answer to the spread of the weed.
